Nineteen Eighty-Four is George Orwell's terrifying vision of a totalitarian future in which everything and everyone is slave to a tyrannical regime. The novel also coined many new words and phrases which regular appear in popular culture, such as 'Big Brother', 'thoughtcrime', 'doublethink' and 'Newspeak'.
Biografía del autor:
Vicente Muñoz Puelles nació en 1948 en Valencia. Desde muy joven se dedicó a la literatura. Su abundante producción abarca distintos géneros (novelas, relatos, ensayos...). Ha recibido, entre otros, el Premio Azorín (1993), con i La emperatriz Eugenia en Zululandia, /i y el Premio Alfons el Magnánim de narrativa (2002), con i Las desventuras de un escritor en provincias /i . De sus incursiones en la literatura infantil y juvenil, podemos destacar el Premio Nacional (1999), con i Óscar y el león de Correos, /i el Premio Anaya de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil, que obtuvo dos veces, con i El arca y yo /i (2004) y i La voz del árbol /i (2014), y el Premio Libreros de Asturias, con i La perrona /i (2005). Ha publicado biografías de Colón, Goya, Ramón y Cajal, Darwin, Dickens, Marie Curie, Einstein y Shakespeare. Estudioso del i Quijote /i y traductor, ha realizado ediciones críticas y ha sido traducido a numerosos idiomas. Formó parte del Consejo Valenciano de Cultura desde 1999 hasta 2018, y fue distinguido con el Premio de las Letras de Generalitat Valenciana en 2018, en reconocimiento a su trayectoria.
