IAN RANKIN (Cardenden, 1960) es uno de los escritores con más carácter de la novela negra actual y su personaje, John Rebus, uno de los policías más carismáticos del género. En 1987, inició con <i Nudos y cruces</i la aclamada serie de novelas ambientadas en su Escocia natal, que está siendo publicada por RBA. Con <i Asuntos internos</i dio comienzo a una nueva saga protagonizada por el inspector Malcolm Fox. Entre los numerosos galardones con los que se ha reconocido su talento destacan el Edgar Award, recibido en dos ocasiones por <i Resurrección</i y <i Black and Blue</i (novela que recibió también el Gold Dagger), el Grand Prix de Littérature Policière por <i En la oscuridad</i , el Premio Pepe Carvalho 2010 por toda su trayectoria y el X Premio RBA de Novela Policiaca 2016 por <i Perros salvajes</i .
