Modelling in general and simulation in particular have come also a long way to become a necessary tool in the analysis of many different real situation, as demonstrated by the different applications that were shown in the conference, ranging from the common ones in the fields of economics and engineering to the new areas of environmental sciences, including one in fire behaviour in mountains.
The quality of the works that were presented at the conferences boosted us to edit this book including new ideas of modelling and simulation in economics since this is the basic subject that is addressed in our campus. The focus has to be in the applications of modelling both in the public and the private sector that add a new view on how these techniques might be applied in the social sciences in general...
